The Fountain of Living Water.

My people have committed two evils:
They have forsaken Me the Fountain of Living Waters,
and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold Water.

Many do not know that there is a controversy, in what is called the Johannine Comma.  For our immediate edification, the following verses in the Epistle of 1st John chapter 5, would stand as correct: For there are Three Witnesses, the Spirit and the Water and the Blood, and They are One. (1st John 5 verse 7 thru 8.) In spite of the perceived manuscript problems, this interpretation would be a more correct rendering of the previous scripture verse, without the inserted word "agree" or "agreement".  The Greek translation for the word "agree" is symphōneō, Strong's G4856.  This Greek word, symphōneō, having been translated in English to, "agree", is recorded seven times in six separate verses in the Greek concordance for the KJV bible, but symphōneō is not found in the Greek transcript of 1st John 5 verses 7 thru 8.  The Greek script reads as  "οι τρεις εις το εν εισιν", which has the translated meaning of "the Three are in the One".  The isolated Greek Word in this portion of the script is actually "eisi - εισιν" which means "are" one, and is the same exact connotation as "the Three are One".

Christ Jesus, being the Incarnate Word of God, was conceived in the genetic flesh of Adam, and the Word of God is of One Spirit with the Will of His Holy Father God, the Almighty.  God's Holy Spirit is not divided, nor can the Spirit of Yahweh God the Father be separated as distinct from the Water and the Blood that flowed from the Body of Jesus Christ, the Son of Man:  For the Spirit of God is of One Essence with His Word made the flesh of Man, and the One Holy Life/Soul/Nephesh of the Son of Man was poured out for the Salvation of sinful mankind.  And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, He said, Father, into Thy Hands I commend My spirit: and having said thus, He gave up the ghost. (Luke 23 verse 46.) As an obedient and loving Son, and having accomplished the Will of His Father God Almighty, the crucified Jesus Christ, released His spirit within His flesh, to be the presentation offering, Chagigah, of the Son of Man/Adam, into the keeping of the Spiritual Will of His Father.  The Spirit of the Son of Man, Jesus Christ, reveals in His resurrection from the dead, that He is indeed of One essence with the One Holy Spirit of His Father God Almighty.   So then, the spiritual significant of the witness of the Spirit, the Water and the Blood, as being One Essence (homooúsios), goes beyond mere conversational agreement, but speaks singularly, of the Spiritual Essence of the Word of God that was given for the Salvation of the lost of mankind.  The One Holy Spirit of Father God with the resurrected Son of God and Man, is the Spiritual Fountain of Living Water, being poured out upon earthen vessels that are seeking the Life giving Source that is the Holy Spirit of God.  Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God the Almighty is the Fountain of Living Water, for He with His Word is the Only Source of Life. (See Jeremiah 2 verse 13 and 17 verse 13 thru 14.) Being One with the Water and the Blood of Jesus Christ, the One Holy Spirit of the Father with His resurrected Son, is both the Baptizer and the Fountain of the Serum Water, that is poured out upon repentant believers, to be the cleansing new Life that flows from the Fountain of Life within God's risen Son, Christ Jesus.

In Communion with His people, the One Holy Spirit of the Living Word of the Lord God Almighty, as Man and our High Priest mediates Life through His New Covenant Blood that sanctifies the repentant sinners within His Body of believers.  So then, the witness, of the Spirit of the Fountain of Living Water, began in our initial Baptism into the cleansing Serum Water of the Life of Jesus Christ, and continues with the witness, of the Spirit of the Water and the Blood, in Holy Communion.  Perhaps when the called out ones, begin to humble themselves under the Witness of the Word of God, and honor His New Blood Covenant among themselves, then the Holy Spirit of God, will pour out upon the parched earthen vessels, His refreshing Waters from His Well Spring that never runs dry.

If the thoughts are presented well, and understood within the heart of the reasoning mind, then some of the philosophical speculations, surrounding the following scriptures should come to an end.

Jesus answered, Verily, Amen, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of Water and the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.  (John 3 verse 5.)

For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto Living Fountains of Waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes. (Revelation 7 verse 17)

"Ho! Everyone who thirsts, come to the Waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat. Yes, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.  Why do you spend money for what is not bread, And your wages for what does not satisfy? ( See Isaiah 55 verse 1 thru 5.)

In the last day, that great day of the feast [of Tabernacles or Booths], Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto Me, and drink. He that believes on Me, as the scripture has said: (See Deuteronomy 18 verse 15 thru 19.) Then out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (John 7 verse 37.)  My Flesh is meat indeed, and My Blood is drink indeed. (See John 6 verse 53 thru 57.)

It should be obvious to all of the redeemed, that the Holy Spirit of Almighty God is infinitely pure: So then how could God's Spirit abide with the impurity of the self idolatry that defiles all of mankind?  He can not; unless that person has entered by faith into God's New Covenant, and then their soul would be marked by the Holy Spirit of God with the Holy Blood of God's Holy incarnate Son Jesus the Christ, born the Son of Adam.  And the only Begotten Son of the Father says: I and the Father are One.  He that has seen Me has seen the Father.  He that receives the Son receives the Father also, for they are of One Spiritual Essence of Mind within the One Holy Spirit of God Almighty.  Jesus declares a number of times that His Father is in heaven, but Jesus also declares:  For it is not you that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaks in you. (Matthew 1 verse 20.) The Word of God is a dichotomy that speaks of the Presence of Holy God, both in heaven and within the believer that transcends our understanding of space and time. For the Lamb of God was slain before the foundation of the world. (See Revelation 13 verse 8.) However, it was not until the Life Blood with the separated Serum Fluid, would flow from the wounds, and the pierced Side of the crucified Jesus Christ, the Son of Man, that God's New Covenant with earthly mankind was being established in the earth, and was finalized in the death, burial and resurrection of God's beloved Son.   The resurrection of the Last Adam, Jesus the Christ of God revealed the Holy Life giving Power of the Holy Spirit of Yahweh God the Almighty. (See John 19 verse 28 thru 30, and 2nd Corinthians 13 verse 4.)

As the Son of Adam, born in the likeness of sinful flesh, Jesus Christ had a will within himself, but that will of His humanity was not centered in himself like the first Adam, but the will of this Man, was centered in the Will of His Father God Almighty. (See Philippians 2 verse 5 thru 7.) That same will of Jesus born of the genetics of the first Adam, was the spirit of a Man that would always be yielded in Perfect Love to the Spirit of His Father's Will.  The Spirit of Jesus Christ, as the Son of Man, even  in death, was in union with the Spirit of His Holy Father, Yahweh, God Almighty.  The saying goes; Like Father like Son, or as Jesus had said: If you have seen Me then you have seen the Father.  It was only after the Lord Jesus Christ's bodily resurrection, as the Son of Man conceived by the Eternal Word of His Father that the One Holy Spirit of the Father and the Son of Man, could now be sent to dwell within the soul of man kind, of those who would believe in God's New Blood Covenant of Life and Grace within Christ Jesus.

In the religious confusion of so many, the water of baptism, as well as Communion, may be seen to be symbolic, but contrary wise, baptism, as well as Holy Communion, is of the Holy Spirit of God, Who is One with the Water and the Blood that flowed from the side of the incarnate man, Jesus Christ.  It is the Holy Spirit of the Father and the Son, as the risen Son of Adam, Who ushers in the Cleansing and Sanctifying Grace bestowed upon the sinner, who is immersed into the beginnings of reconciling faith, within Jesus Christ' death, burial and resurrection from the dead.  Even as God the Eternal Father is Spirit, and Light, and Love within His Infinite Holiness, so then is the unlimited dimensions of His Holy Spirit.  God's Holy Spirit is not symbolic, or a force as some teach in heresy, but because of the Holy Blood of His only begotten Son Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit is God's Holy Presence, manifesting His grace in the lives of the faithful. For there is One Body, and One Spirit, even as you are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, One faith, One baptism, One God and Father of all, Who is above all and through all, and in you all. (Ephesians 4 verse 4 thru 6.) God having seen the beginnings of the germination of His Gift of faith, within the heart of a repentant person, initiates His baptism of fire through His Holy Spirit, by cleansing the forgiven soul with the Life giving Serum Water, from the poured out Holy Blood of Jesus Christ.  For by One Spirit are we all baptized into One Body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into One Spirit. (1st Corinthians 12 verse 13.) Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto Me, and drink.  He that believeth on Me, as the scripture has said, [Then] Out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (John 7 verse 37.) The conditional statement to be understood: If a man drinks of the Spirit of God in Christ Jesus, Then out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water from the Fountain of Life.

So then, this is the Word of Faith that we preach, for when received from God, the substance of that Faith, is to be alive in the heart and in the mind of a person, and it is focused in the Eternal Truth of the WORD of GOD Himself.  The One Spirit of the Father and the Son, is the Fountain of Life, wherein springs of Living water flow forth, to nourish the dry souls of earthen vessels.  For I will pour  water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour My Spirit upon your seed, and My blessing upon your offspring: And they shall spring up as among the grass, as willows by the water courses. (Isaiah 44 verse 3 thru 4.) God has not changed, and His Word is immutable; for The grass withers, the flower fades: but the Word of our God shall stand for ever. (Please see Isaiah 40 verse 3 thru 10.) In this instance, it makes no difference whether God Almighty is speaking to Israel, or to all those who seek to enter into Covenant with Him.  God is constant in His creation, and the Light of His Word, holds all things together, and  His Word of Salvation is the only source of Light and Life that holds us together, as One in Him.

If God is speaking, then it is wise to hear and hearken to the Spirit of His Word.  Hear then what the Almighty says to Israel, and follow with us, to see if the Holy Spirit witnesses also to the reader: “For My people have committed two evils: They have forsaken Me, The Fountain of Living Waters, and now have hewn for themselves cisterns, broken cisterns that can hold no water. (Jeremiah 2 verse 13.) Now witness what Jesus says to the Samaritan woman at the well, of whom the Lord had asked for a drink:  Jesus answered and said unto her, If you knew the Gift of God, and Who It is that says to you: Give me to drink; [then] you would have asked of Him, and He would have given you Living Water.  The woman said unto Him, Sir, You have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: From where then do You have that Living Water?  Jesus answered and said unto her: Whosoever drinks of this [well] water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinks of the Water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the Water that I shall give him shall be in him a Well of Water springing up into everlasting Life. (See John 4 verse 7 thru 14.) Then He that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And He said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. And He said unto me, It is done. I AM Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give unto him that is athirst of the Fountain of the Water of Life freely. (See Revelation 21 verse 3 thru 7.)

With the Infinite Holy God, all things progress in His time, even as we learn little by little, line upon line, precept upon precept.  Again, we hear Jesus saying: He that believes on Me, as the scripture has said.  Out of his belly shall flow rivers of Living WaterAnd the scriptures continuing on to clarify the Lord's Words: By this He meant the Spirit, Whom those who believed in Him [Christ Jesus] were later to receive.  Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified. (John 7 verse 37 thru 39.) John's Gospel reveals to us that Jesus was specifying the Holy Spirit, Who was yet to be given to those who thirst after righteousness.  So then, we can conclude together, that the Holy Spirit is not only the Source of Living Water that proceeds from the Father and the Son, He is also the Living Water that is poured out upon dry thirsty earthen vessels, and is the Fountain of Blessing upon the offspring that were birthed in the Word of God, so that all of God's plantings should flourish. "Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord.  For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the river, and will not fear when heat comes...." (Jeremiah 17 verse 7 thru 8.)

Now, we read in Scripture that immediately after the Lord's resurrection, even Mary Magdalene, who was the first to see the risen Christ, was not permitted to touch the risen unblemished Holy Lord Jesus Christ, the last Adam, and through God's Spirit of Holiness, the first born of humanity risen from the dead.  (See John 20 verse 16 thru 17.) We would surmise that the flesh of fallen humanity, could not, at that moment, touch such purity of holiness, as in the now resurrected Body of the Lord, and apparently neither could even a disciple such as Mary.  Jesus said unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to My Father: but go to My brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto My Father, and Your Father; and to My God, and Your God. (John 20 verse 17.) The Lord Jesus needed to return to His Holy Father God in the bodily form of the son of Man, without any hint of defilement from the fallen nature of humanity upon His resurrected person.  Jesus' sinless perfection and resurrection, as the Son of Man, gained for all believers in Him, an access into the Holy of Holies, and into the presence of His Father God Almighty.

After the Lord's suffering, death, burial, and resurrection victory over the defiling sin's of lost mankind, it must have been a glorious time of celebration for Father God and His returning Son.  They came together as One, in their glorified reunion; the Father in the Son, and the Son in the Father. (See John 17 verse 1 thru 5.) All of heaven must have rejoiced with Them.  Now, God the Father of us all, in union with His beloved Son, could now send His One Holy Spirit, that is One with the Water and the Blood, of His victorious WORD, Jesus Christ, to persons of professed faith, who would be baptized into the cleansing Life giving Serum Water, through the Holy Spirit of the Eternal God, and His Fountain of Living Water.

The clarity of this Truth begins to come to the forefront of our understanding, when we hear Jesus say to His disciples:  Nevertheless I tell you the Truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send Him unto you. And when He is come, He will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: (For full context see John 16 verse 7 thru 15.)

Jesus Christ, born of the seed of a virgin woman of Abrahamic faith, became the Son of Man, and the representative of all of humanity.  As a Man/Adam, Jesus loved His heavenly Father perfectly, and in so doing, He overcame for all, who believe in Him, their sin and death that came from the first Man's selfish disobedience.  And now, that same redeeming Life Blood of Perfect Love, establishes God's righteous Covenant in the earth, for all who believe in God's Salvation Gift in the risen Christ Jesus.  The Holy Blood, and the Serum water of that Holy Life, that poured from the wounds of the Jewish Messiah, needed to be shed upon the earth, to establish God's new Covenant with earthly mankind, before the One Holy Spirit of the living God, could come to dwell with men of the earth, who are dead in their sins and trespasses, and yet have yielded to God's call to His mercy, and forgiveness in Christ Jesus.  So then, through the Holy Spirit, the promise of Life in Christ Jesus, is given to all who have faith, in the redeeming and sanctifying New Covenant Life Blood of the Savior of mankind.

Although there is the simplicity of faith, in the Good News of God's Salvation, nevertheless there are so many profound things in scripture that goes beyond the natural mind of man, and they can only be found in the Mind of the Spirit of God, Who searches the deep things of God.  For God has revealed them unto us by His Spirit: For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. (See 1st Corinthians 2 verse 9 thru 14.)  Let us continue to wade through some more difficult Scriptures, to see if we might emerge together, with a consensus view of the Spirit of the Water of the Word of God, with its implications in the new birth.

Then Jesus arrived from Galilee at the Jordan coming to John, to be baptized by him. But John tried to prevent Him, saying, “I have need to be baptized by You, and do You come to me?” But Jesus answering said to him, Permit it at this time; for in this Way it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then He (Jesus) permitted him (John).  After being baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened, and John saw the Spirit of God descending as a Dove, and lighting on Him, and behold, a Voice out of the heavens said, “This is My Beloved Son, in Whom I AM well pleased.”  (Matthew 3 verse 13 thru 17.  N.A.S.B.)

When the Lord Jesus came to John, to be immersed into John's water baptism, John demurred with humility in the presence of the Lord's Christ, saying that He was the one who needed to be baptized by Jesus.  After all, John had already prophesied that Jesus Christ would baptize with the Holy Spirit, and with fire.  But, Jesus said to John: Let it be so for now.  When the Lord Jesus said: Let it be so for now, the words implied that John's water baptism with its outward show of repentance, would temporarily satisfy God's eternal purpose, and would lead to greater implications in the fulfillment of all righteousness.  The fulfillment of all righteousness would be finished, when the Lord our Righteousness, would suffer and die for the sins of the world, and then be resurrected in the Holy Righteous power, with the Spirit of His Holy Father God Almighty.  We know that after that time, His Father God would send His Holy Spirit, to hearts that were made new, and receptive to God's loving mercy.  Those new hearts would be new wineskins of God's making, and not broken cisterns of our own understanding, that cannot hold the Water and the Wine of the Spirit of God.   God's Holy Spirit of Truth, has come to glorify Jesus Christ, and to guide the believer into the Way and the Truth of God's Fountain of Life within His Son.  And when the Spirit of Truth is come, He will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: Of sin, because they believe not on Me; [The Fountain of Living Water].  Of righteousness, because I go to My Father, and you see Me no more; Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged. (See John 16 verse 7 thru 15.)
